Ms J Grevett

Ms Grevett is Assistant Principal at Harris Girls Academy East Dulwich.

Ms Grevett graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a degree in Pharmacology. Having always wanted to go into teaching during university she was selected to be one of the Department for Education’s ‘Teaching champions’ and was featured in their ‘get into teaching’ web series encouraging others to join the profession.

Originally from West Sussex she moved to London to train at University College London and joined the Harris federation in 2015 as a newly qualified teacher. She joined Harris Girls East Dulwich in 2018 and took a keen interest in teacher progression as a means to raise standards within the classroom. Ms Grevett left the academy after 3 years as a middle leader in 2021 to join another Harris Federation academy but returned in 2024 to HGAED as part of the senior leadership team. She has facilitated leading programmes and training across the Harris network both for teaching and learning and as a chemistry subject specialist.

Proudest moment in education

When teaching sometimes we use strategies and mnemonics to aid in remembering. When teaching this year a group of students in year 11 who I taught in year 7 had recalled some very specific methods 5 years on. This is very small but a helpful reminder of why we do this job and that it is not about us as school staff but actually how honoured we are to be part of these young people’s lives in these key years.

“Thing I love the most about HGAED: The students and their humour and the relationships we get to build; but also the staff and even the buildings after working at another academy I really do feel like this school feels like home.”
