Starting secondary school is a defining moment—a chance to discover new passions, build confidence, and set ambitious goals for the future. At Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich, we’re committed to making this transition from Year 6 to Year 7 not only smooth but inspiring.

Our Year 7 curriculum is designed to build on the strong foundations of primary learning while opening doors to exciting new opportunities. We work closely with local primary schools to ensure every student feels prepared and ready to thrive from day one.

We want you to build a community as soon as you accept a place, as we know how important it is to meet other parents and carers at the same stage in education. Once you have accepted your child's place at the academy we invite you to a special afternoon tea event. This is a great opportunity to learn more about our school, meet our staff and more importantly a chance for children and parents to make connections before September.

All new students are invited to our transition day in July. Our new students get to meet their coaches, Head of Year and have a series of taster lessons. Students will tour the academy and meet key teachers who will support them on their educational journey. This is a fantastic opportunity for students to make new friends ahead of starting in September.

We ensure the very first day in September is for year 7 only. We know the first time students have to follow a timetable can be daunting and they have lots of opportunity on this day to explore our vast site and locate their lessons so they feel confident in navigating the academy.
