Ms J Young

Ms Young is the Principal of Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich. Originally from Birmingham, she graduated from the University of Birmingham with an LLB in Law. Ms Young taught for five years at the secondary school she attended as a child. She joined Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich in 2010 as Head of Mathematics and has been promoted to through the Senior Leadership Team taking positions of Assistant Principal, Vice Principal and Principal in September 2022. Ms Young has designed and delivered a range of NPQ programmes for the National Institute of Education.

Proudest moment in education. Every GCSE and A level Results day results day is filled with happy tears. Knowing a student will go on to achieve their dreams based on the educational foundation we provided is the best feeling. Our two Ofsted Outstanding judgements in March 2012 and December 2023 were also a highlight of my career. As Principal, the first line of our 2023 report reads “pupils thrive in this exceptional school” which really captures just how special our academy is.

Thing I love the most about HGAED. Our students – full of character, passionate, kind, with a strong sense of justice and humour!
