Applying to Year 7

Are you looking for a place in Year 7 for September 2027?

The academy admits 150 girls each September. We host open events in September and October for prospective students so you can see our school in action and meet staff and students. We strongly encourage you to attend these informative Open Events. 

Applications for Year 7 places starting September 2027 should be made online using the Common Application Form provided and administered by the local authority. This opens on 1 September 2026 and can be found at the link below.

September 2027 admissions to Year 7

If you have already applied for a secondary school place starting in September 2027, the Academy works to the common admissions timetable agreed by Southwark Council.

The key dates are:

• 1st September 2026 - Applications for Year 7 places in 2027 opens
• 31st October 2026 - Closing date for applications for Year 7 places in September 2027
• 1st March 2027 - The Local Authority notifies parents about successful applications to secondary school
• 31st March 2027 - Closing date for appeals for primary to secondary transfer. Appeals must be made by 4pm on the closing day. Appeals will be heard in May/June 2027

Your right to appeal

If you are unsuccessful in gaining a place for your son at Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich through the Year 7 application process, then you have the right to appeal. 

Parent(s) wishing to appeal against the Academy’s decision should complete an appeal form stating the reason for the appeal based on the published admissions criteria. The appeal form and guidance notes for appeals can be downloaded at the bottom of the page.

For admissions to Year 7 in September 2027, the closing date for appeals for primary to secondary transfer is 31st March 2027. Appeals must be made by 4pm on the closing day. Appeals will be heard in May/June 2027.

Completed forms should be sent to: The Clerk to the Appeal Panel, c/o Admissions, Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich, Peckham Rye, London SE22 0NR.

The appeals will be heard over Zoom by an Independent Appeal Panel.

• Appeals may be made in English or the parents’/carers’ first language.
• Only one appeal per application is allowed.
• Appeals are conducted over Zoom and you may have a friend with you in the call.

Admission outside normal age group

If you wish to apply for a place in a year group other than the one in which children of the same age are normally placed, please download and complete the following forms (available at the bottom of the page): 

• Determined Request for Admission Outside of Normal Age Group
• Southwark Form - Request for Admission Outside of Normal Age Group
