"One of the best Shakespeare performances I have ever seen."
One of Shakespeare's most popular plays, As You Like It, was brought magically to life by the award-winning Illyria Productions, in an outdoor performance on our playing field on Wednesday 26 June, as part of our Shakespeare and Me week-long literary festival.
Local residents, students, teachers and parents all enjoyed the production, which recreated the feel of a travelling company of the early 17th century to bring Shakespeare's rollicking tale of love enjoyably to life for all the family.
“I thought it was one of the best Shakespeare performances I've ever seen. I didn't know the play, but am inspired to go and read it now. And my daughter really enjoyed the cupcakes that we bought, that some of your pupils had baked.”

Illyria performed Shakespeare's play with only a handful of props and no scenery, and with only five actors. But the refreshing originality of their production was enjoyd by a crowd sitting on the grass with their own chairs and blankets.
