Academy in the top 2% of schools nationally for student progress
Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich is in the top 2% of schools nationally for student progress, according to the latest figures released by the Department for Education.
So-called ‘value added’ scores measure students’ progress rather than simply exam results and are, say the Department for Education, a ‘better and fairer measure of school effectiveness than raw results alone.’
Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich came top in a league table of 15 Southwark secondary schools for ‘value added’, and in the top 2% of schools nationally.
‘We’re immensely proud of the effectiveness of our academy for students at all ability levels,’ says Principal Jane Fletcher.
‘The 2010 exam results show that we support the most able students to achieve some of the best results in the country, as well as enabling all students to make excellent progress.’
Last year, 90% of year 11 students students achieved five or more GCSEs at grades A*-C.
Sixty per cent of our current year 11 students have already gained A*-C grades in both English and Maths, in the GCSE exams taken in November 2010.
This figure is certain to rise even further when the final GCSE results are announced in August this year.
