Our Mayoral Election. And the Winner is...?

City HallStudents had their own mayoral election this week, mirroring the vote that is happening across London today.

The voting was carried out during coaching time, after students had learned about the role of the Mayor and Greater London Assembly and the impact it has on London life.

Students discussed each party's manifesto before deciding how to cast their vote.

"We ran the school mayoral election to inform students about the importance of voting and to give them an idea and awareness about the political parties and candidates," said House Co-ordinator Victoria Hearle.

"Students voted in their tutor groups and slips were handed out confidentially for them to register their vote. Votes were collated by the House Co-ordinator team and have been announced to the school on the plasma screens. It will be interesting to compare our Harris Girls’ overall voting with the actual results on Friday evening."

And the results are...

Labour 83%
Green 7%
Conservative 6%
UKIP 3%
Liberal Democrat 1%
