577 students compete for first prize

Students from nine different academies took part in the Harris Federation Sports Day last month at the National Sports Centre in Crystal Palace. Our team finished second overall with 236 points, just four points behind Harris City Academy Crystal Palace.

This was the biggest of its kind ever held by the Federation, with 577 competitors, and was organised by Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich.

Members of our 41-strong athletics team took part in track events, high jump, long jump, triple jump, discus, shot put and javelin.

Emmanuella, Year 10, broke the Federation 300m record with a time of 47.85secs. Ruby, Year 10, broke the Federation discus record with a throw of 16.68m. Bola, also year 10, broke the Federation long jump record with a jump of 4.61m.

'Our students are encouraged to achieve their personal best in everything they set out to achieve,’ says Jane Fletcher, Principal.
