What a fantastic trip to Harry Potter World with our Year 7's! The day was filled with magic and wonder, as they entered the fictional universe. The snow edition has really got us in the mood for winter at HGAED!

Today marks the last day of Anti-Bullying Week, and we’re learning how to recognise when someone might be experiencing bullying. Look out for changes in mood, behaviour, confidence, or friendships and always speak to a trusted adult if you’re worried about someone.

Voices From the Rye - Student Zine - Issue 3 'Space' Out Now

Voices From Rye 3Issue 3 of our new student zine, Voices From the Rye, is out now, written and created by girls with the help of their teachers.

  • Afua and Tiana look at how we are influenced by the position of the solar system
  • Xhara on ground-breaking women matematicians who helped the US get into space

  • Sharen on the space in your mind when it goes blank
  • Bernice writes a 'Dear Space' poem

"Raising our voices"

“It all started when two teachers, Ms Caswell and Mr Stothard, had a vision of starting our own school magazine to let us raise our voices about the things that matter to us as young women,” said lead editor Awa, Year 10. Both staff and students have been impressed with the quality of the output from the writers, who spend one lunchtime a week creating the zine. It's designed by graphic designer, Jessica Williams.

"Speak up and feel proud"

“The zine is there to give our students the opportunity to lead, make decisions and write about the things that matter to them,” said Ms Caswell. “Other students have now started to write too, which is a real testament to the zine, because they see it as an opportunity to speak up and feel proud.”
