Year 7 Girls’ Rugby – Building a Buzz!

Our Year 7 girls’ rugby group has been going from strength to strength, with up to ten enthusiastic players taking part in recent sessions. Despite some less than ideal weather last Friday, the girls arrived in their rain jackets, full of energy and determination, a brilliant display of commitment and team spirit!

It has been wonderful to see students who may not have tried rugby before getting involved, developing their skills and discovering how much they enjoy the sport. We are now building a real rugby community among our Year 7 students and the excitement continues to grow.

Our players have also been hugely inspired by the Women’s Rugby World Cup, held here in London, with incredible role models like Sadia Kabeya, a former Harris Federation student, and Ellie Kildunne, both representing England on the world stage. Their achievements have given our students powerful examples of where passion and dedication can lead.

A huge thank you to our coach, Dieter, for his support and encouragement and to our inspirational guest visitor a player from the Guys, Kings and St. Thomas’ (GKT) Ladies University Rugby Team, who is also studying to become a doctor. She shared an important message about inclusion, reminding our players that rugby truly is for everyone, regardless of size, height, or background. Looking ahead, we are excited to arrange our first friendly fixture with local schools and continue developing our programme.
