Year 8 student Sandra publishes her first book
Year 8 student Sandra read from her first book When They Call to an audience of students and staff in the academy study centre, as part of our East Dulwich Literary Festival.
“It’s a brilliant story,” said one student. Another was really pleased to hear that one of the main characters was based on her. Sandra also named the teacher the erratic Mrs Dreward is based on!
The story is a fantastic blend of boy watching, madness and an interfering parent with a dash of Shakespeare. When They Call is superbly written and is a book that you will not be able to put down.
Students who attended the session received a free copy of When They Call, which Sandra was pleased to autograph for them.
The book was inspired by a visit to the Horniman Museum and was written as part of the East Dulwich Literary Festival.
Mrs Fletcher, Principal, was so impressed with Sandra’s work that she decided to have multiple copies of the story printed up to be given out during the festival.
Sandra, a year 8 student is hoping to attract a publisher - a name to watch out for!
