Summer reading challenge

It is true! Someone is going to receive £50!  It could be you! To be in with a chance of winning £50, visit any Southwark library and ask to join the teen reading challenge.

All you have to do is read 4 books during the summer holiday and your name will be entered into a prize draw to win.

Could things get any better?  Yes they could.  Every student currently in year 7 or 8 could win a £5 voucher.  There is no limit to the number of students who can win this. To get your £5 voucher, your renaissance learning reading level must increase by 1 year by the time you sit your next renaissance learning test which will be in September.  A £5 voucher will also be awarded to each student who achieves the highest level of 16.6 years.

Harris Girls' elibrary

Check out the elibrary for loads of fantastic new reads.  There are some brilliant books including: ‘The Dork Diaries’, ‘the Hunger Games’ trilogy, books by Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy.  There is also some real miserable stuff like ‘A boy called it’ and ‘Ugly’.

To get onto the Harris Girls' elibrary go to the HGAED website. Click on ‘Harris Net’ (bottom left of home page) and then click onto the elibrary.  In addition to books you will find links to author websites, newspapers, graphic novels and manga.

Ask in your nearest public library for more information about the teen reading challenge and £50 prize draw.  The challenge is open to anyone aged between 12 and 17 years.

You can access the Harris Girls' elibrary from anywhere that you can get an internet connection.  Study centre staff will be happy to give you more information.
