National Sports Week, 22-26 June 2015

Race for Life 1To mark National Sports Week, over 300 students in Years 7-10 took part in the Race for Life on Wednesday 24th June running 5k around Peckham Rye to raise money for Cancer Research. The students ran their hearts out around the pinkly-decorated track and a fantastic effort was shown by all.

The ladies came out in full force, enthusiastic and eager to be part of such a worthy cause. Well done to Harmony, Courtney and Ayiesha who even dressed in their Cancer Research t-shirts for the event.

STOP PRESS: This event raise a total of £1513.43 for Cancer Research. An incredible effort, considering we were aiming for £1,000. The PE department have awarded a £10 JD voucher for the winning student Jaime-Leigh Woods in Year 8 who raised the most money - £246.10.

Well done to all the students who took part and thank you to everyone who has donated money to help beat Cancer sooner.

An Archery Afternoon

We also we invited a professional archery coach to come in and give free coaching sessions to our students on Friday 26th June. Three different P.E. classes took to the bow and arrow and had a try! During both lunch breaks he was also in the sports hall coaching students during a drop-in session - some of the sixth form boys even had a go!

Students learnt key skills such as body positioning when holding the bow and arrow and how to aim for the target.  Competitions were held and the coach attached a balloon to the target to see who could burst it first!
