Health & Social Care
Health & Social Care is a popular and successful department at Harris Girls’ Academy East Dulwich and is taught in Key Stage 5. We have good progression rates with many students choosing to continue their studies with us and move on to university.
The department has an ethos of providing practical learning opportunities. We are well resourced, with a dedicated team of qualified and experienced teachers who provide a caring and supportive student-centred approach. To add to this, we have a fully equipped health suite and ICT facility.
Our Sixth Form students study the Edexcel BTEC National in Health & Social Care. Students are offered two contrasting care setting placements, supported by our work placement coordinator, around which they base a portfolio unit. The course is offered flexibly with some students aiming for a subsidiary diploma, diploma or extended diploma at BTEC National level.
We also offer the Advanced GCE (single award) in Health and Social Care. All students who undertake these courses progress on to university or into apprenticeships in the health and social care sector.
